Telling Boboiboy’s Father’s Childhood Story / Review Episode 1 Mechamato

Mechamato is an animated series directed by Animonsta Studio. This animated series, which is a spin-off of Boboiboy, tells a flashback of Boboiboy’s father named Amato as a child, where he once had a robot named Mechabot that could make himself fused which became known as Mechamato or Mechanize. This animated series first aired on Cartoon Network Asia on December 4, 2021 (actually on November 6, it aired a sneak-peek episode) and airs every Saturday & Sunday at 2.00PM Indonesian Time. This is also an Animonsta product which is exclusively premiered in Asia.

The first episode of Mechamato tells of Amato, an elementary school boy who is notorious for being late for school. He lives with his parents (his father named Aba, who we now also know as Tok Aba as Boboiboy’s grandfather) and also a pet robot named Mechabot, where he has the skills to be able to blend with Amato as a mechanizer.

On his way to school, Amato encounters a problem on a road where a swimming pool is mysteriously built accompanied by a traffic cone which turns out to be disguised as aggressive robots. The cones then fight with Amato so that he can not only eradicate the rogue robots but also smooth traffic and clean up the chaos that occurs in the traffic. These cones are also known as robots that disrupt traffic.

The episode ends with Amato being late for school and getting punished by a teacher for cleaning the whole school even though he managed to help people in urban areas.

The first episode of Mechamato is very interesting in my opinion because there are several things that deserve comment. First, we can see the character of Tok Aba in this series which is designed exclusively as Amato’s father at that time. Second, the symbol of the ‘no gadget’ rule at Amato school is also unique because it depicts cell phones in today’s life even though the setting of the story looks like the 80s because it is the early generation of the Boboiboy family.
