The King Who Transformed The City into Block / Review Mechamato Epsode 12

Episode 12 aired on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 2pm on Cartoon Network.

We start to seeing a monkey who accidentally removed a character from a video game made of Minecraft-style blocks called King Boxell, whereas he managed to get himself out of the video game after bering trapped inside for hundreds of years.

Meanwhile, Amato, Mechabot, Pian and Deep are camping in a forest where they were playing stone throwing and even Deep is bitten by a mosquito and bored because there is no internet connection. Until suddenly they were invited by a monkey to a house made of blocks, as well as food, furniture and interior made of blocks.

When the three visited the house, King Boxell caught them and then blamed Amato because he had invited his friends to eat at King Boxell’s house without permission plus he also thought Amato’s cellphone was talking bad about King Boxell.

Until finally, King Boxell tried to attack and even tried to make Mechabot as a ‘block’ too. Mechabots cannot interact with Amato because they must be mechanized with objects from other blocks. And unfortunately, the three failed to fight with King Boxell and he locked Amato and his friends in a cage and then transformed them into Blocks. And he explained that King Boxell’s goal is to turn the Hilir city into a Block city and he will turn the city into blocks, from buildings, vehicles to even the people and residents of the Hilir aka Downstream city.

Amato, Mechabot and the others managed to get out with the help of a monkey (which turned out to be King Boxell’s pet who was kind because he wanted to save them) and then they tried to find King Boxell.

Meanwhile, at the King’s Castle, King Boxell had started his bad tactics and despicable actions by turning parts of the Lower City into blocks. Amato and the others have found the coordinates of King Boxell and it turns out that he is in a royal king’s castle headquarters which also happens to be made of ‘blocks’ too.

Amato and Mechabot and his friends then fight with King Boxell with all the power they have, even including swords, shields, knight costumes and other fellow knights even being ‘mechanized’ by Amato and Mechabot.

He also pleaded and asked King Boxell to stop all these rotten plans and return the Hilir City to its original state because changing the Hilir City into Blocks would only make him miserable.

However, King Boxell’s selfish and greedy nature did not pay him any heed and he instead tried to destroy Amato and his friends.

Until finally King Boxell losing at the battle because one of his mechanized henchmen managed to attack King Boxell with a high-powered laser sword and finally King Boxell entered into Amato’s cellphone and Downstream City returned to normal and was no longer a beam including Amato and his friends including Mechabot.

The moral and the lessons in this episode

Some lessons we can take from this episode are not to be a King who only cares about himself and be a King who cares about his subordinates. Also, the struggle of Amato and his friends to stop the evil King also deserves our appreciation even though they have been ‘cursed’ to become blocks and are said to have experienced a fundamental weakness.

Similar to Minecraft, Roblox and Doraemon

The Minecraft and Roblox references are fully used in this episode, since some of the characters and objects in this episode are made of blocks. Even King Boxell himself was inspired by the kings that often appear in Minecraft or Roblox games.

An episode of Doraemon entitled ‘Doraemon Square Quad’ also suddenly crossed my mind after watching this episode. The difference is if in Doraemon he becomes a square and he turns all things into a square and he becomes disciplined and fierce, then this episode is different with Mechamato which tells how the King became greedy and powerful by changing many forms into blocks.

What do you think about this episode of Mechamato?
